Armor project in a holding pattern...

We have a few foam sculptings, but we were waiting to get vacuforming table finished before proceeding. Now we have several other projects in the queue so we'll be delayed a bit before returning here.

Trebuchet

Here are two shots of the trebuchet mentioned earlier. We found several project sites for trebs ranging from 12" to 12' tall. The throwing arm is 33" long, scaled down from 42". These are really easy to build and are great fun even if you're only launching golf balls.

Hand Armor

We're off to a start. We decided to begin with something easy, and the hand plates look like the easiest parts to produce. We'll post projection sketches later, but the images show a model we intend to use for both left and right sides. The model is two pieces of 1/4 inch foam core laminated together. We may finish this with micro balloons and filler, or re-sculpt it in polystyrene foam. From the finished positives we'll pull hollow blanks on the vacuform table.

Welcome to our Mjolnir project

This blog will document our adventure creating a full size suit of Mjolnir Mk VI armor as worn by the Master Chief in Halo 3.

My son and I first discussed a project like this about a year ago while building a working trebuchet for a science project. As we progress, we'll post photos and descriptions of the work, as well as some background information on some people who've helped and inspired me along the way.
